- The purpose of Buford Weightlifting is to reduce injury and improve performance.
vision Statement
The philosophy behind Buford weightlifting is based upon the "Pyramid of Performance." Setting a strong foundation of general strength through functional movements that incorporate multi-joint and multi-muscle exercises. Setting the foundation is critical for all athletes. The stronger the foundation the easier it becomes to gain the power and explosiveness needed. Power is all about "how fast are you strong?" Power is all about moving and performing quickly with strength; being violent and precise with our movements. Our movement block is about putting the rubber where it meets the road. We believe that we live and play on our feet, and consequently, we should train on our feet. Flexibility is a discipline. It is our job to give our athletes the tools to succeed and to prevent injury. Conditioning and Skill are for the respective head coach of the sport. We develop the strength and power foundation but it is the job of the sport coach to do the conditioning and skill work of the sport with the athlete.
